Unlike a simple random picker, it uses the browser's Web Crypto API(crypto.getRandomValues), the same cryptographically secure source trusted for real security work. That means the passwords it produces are genuinely unpredictable and safe to use on your accounts.

What makes a strong password?

Length matters most: aim for at least 12–16 characters. Mixing lowercase, uppercase, numbers, and symbols increases the number of possible combinations, which makes a password much harder to guess or brute-force. The strength meter estimates entropy in bits — higher is better, and anything over 60 bits is strong for most accounts.

How long should my password be?

For everyday accounts, 16 characters with mixed character types is a solid default. For high-value accounts like email, banking, or a password manager's master password, consider 20 or more. You can set any length from 4 to 64 with the slider.

What does “exclude look-alike characters” do?

It removes characters that are easy to confuse when reading or typing — like the lowercase L, capital I, the number 1, the letter O, and zero. Should I use a different password for every account?
